What got you started with a career in financial services?
First and foremost, I have always wanted to help people. This began at age 10 when I offered to help my parents and sister find misplaced items (keys, wallet, TV remote control) around the house for a small fee of 25 cents. The emotions shown by a person who has been truly helped – joy, peace of mind, relief – are the ultimate payoff for me and continue to motivate me to this day. Knowing that I wanted to find a career that allowed me to deliver these feelings to many different people, my path was set towards financial services.
Growing up, I did not learn how to invest my money or how to file taxes. There was no class in school that taught the basics of investing or how to create a budget. Financial literacy varies widely across families and many feel like they could be doing better with access to resources and a trustworthy adviser. I could certainly relate to this feeling when I was growing up. I was drawn to learn more about financial planning to help my own family navigate our financial situation. Now I strive to provide the same guidance and level of care to the families I work with.
What motivates you to do your best every day?
